Name: Wilbur
Species: Unknown avian First appearance: Legend 1, page 1 An orphan raised by a widow in the quiet town of Eastwood, Wilbur's off to the great city of Agyre to make his way in the world. More specifically, he dreams of becoming a member of the kingdom's Airforce; a prime career for any young and aspiring bird. What he got instead was not as noble but just as important: a job at Agyria's Post Office, delivering messages across the realm. Personality-wise, Wil's a sweet kid: good-natured and trusting, often too much so; highly forgiving and inclined to think the best of everyone. |

Name: Nicholas
Species: feline First appearance: Legend 1, page 4 Also an orphan like Wilbur, Nick grew up practically on his own on the streets of Agyre, giving him a far less romanticized view of the city than his friend. His one goal in life is to someday, somehow join the ranks of Agyria's Order of Knights. Until then, Nick's content to live on the streets, practicing his swordplay and other heroic skills in preparation of his future Knighthood. Brash, fast-talking, and highly spirited, he's quite a contrast to Wil's quieter nature. And, although he'd never outright admit it, he's afrai- or, okay, let's say he really, really, really doesn't like spiders. |

Name: Diligence Catterleigh
Species: feline First appearance: Legend 1, page 18 The first thing to know about Diligence is that she despises her given name (who wouldn't?) and prefers to be called Jen. Like many, she originally came to Agyre to create a better future for herself, and quickly found her niche working in Owlswen's magic shop. The only employee in the shop since the last one stomped off after accidentally being turned into a 6-inch high pink giraffe, Jen lives up to her name, patiently managing the shop in the face of Owlswen's relentless experimentation and absentmindedness. She doesn't talk about her past much. |

Name: James Gargouille
Species: half dragon, half gargoyle First appearance: Legend 1, page 10 James's generally pessimistic and cynical outlook on life is mostly due to his birth as the unfortunate child of a highly unusual match: his mother was a dragon, and his father a gargoyle. Despite the fact that the two species are similar enough to breed, the aristocratic dragons look down upon the less-noble lizardlike species, and the gargoyles resent the dragons' superior attitudes, making the couple - and their offspring - unapproved by both sides of the family. For a time, James attempted to overcome this social handicap, attending Agyria's premier (and only) Academy of Magic. But, as he realized that the world beyond the dragon-gargoyle social conflict didn't quite accept him either, he left the academy shortly after attaining his initiates' degree. He is now employed at the Post Office, working mainly as a mail sorter and with other behind-the-scenes management to keep out of the disdainful public eye. He doesn't mind much; he was never very social anyway. |
